  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This was a great smoke. I can now proclaim my most favorite cigar. The only thing is maybe a different size. It was just the draw that bugged me was a little tight but not enough to make your cheeks sore.

In my usual smoking area the garage with a bottle of cold water. Which was maybe not the best idea as the weather was cold and windy but I had three walls around me.

Pre-light draw firm. Construction very good. Band removed easily.

Lights easily and first draw was amazing. Very rich tobacco and a delicious cigar flavor.

First third had flavors on the bold full body side. Tastes of smooth coffee earthy pecan. After tastes with pepper lurking in the back of my mouth and the smooth flavors remaining on my tongue.

Second third was smoother and had more nutty pecan flavors. The smoke clouds are weak and the cigar needs to be opened up and the burn so far is razor sharp. The cool weather is starting to get to me.

Last bit opened up slowly. The finish was strong and end was smooth and sweet.

Ashes fell of very easily at an inch long. If the draw was opened up I would give this stick a 10/10. But I will give it a 9/10.

And after being outside in the cold I had to have a nice warm spot of tea. Winter spice black tea.

~Enjoy~

I'm not usually a lancero kind of guy, but I tried the Illusione hl a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. I will definitely get more of these... :)

Sweet, nice review! Glad you liked it, dude.
I have smoked the Cain and well this one of coarse. I liked them both but so far this is the best. I will smoke the nub maduro soon. I think I will do a whole thread on nub reviews cause I have like four of them. Hanbano maduro conneticut and maybe havana or something.

The MK and HL (lancero) are both smaller ring gauges. The f9 is smaller too I think. The 88 and mj12 are the bigger and badder (in a good way) sizes -- those are 2 of my favorites.

For Minnesota, though, I'd recommend you try the 68 asap -- that's the petite corona size, and it's one of the best cigars of that size on the planet. For a quicker smoke--nice in cold weather--with all the flavor and enjoyment of a bigger smoke, it's really hard to beat the Illusione 68 (it might even beat out the Tat Angeles now as my favorite pc!).

Yea I do not ever see any Illusione's around at the local shops. I will stop by a new one I found, I need to get some bombing supplies anyway.

Great review - I've had only a few that were tough to draw on, and I've smoked many. I like the thinner ring gauges of this brand better, it seems to loose something (strength?) in the larger sizes, that's just my taste.

If you like this I would recomend seeking out the other brands Dion makes and also other Tropical Tobacco cigars like Casa Fernandez, JFR & Top Shelf!

Don't know if this was mentioned above but you might check out the illusione samplers at New Havana Cigars (NHC) and ask to speak with Dan.

Great review of a near-perfect cigar. I will ditto the above and say try a 68. I would almost call it a condensed CG:4, the flavors and spice seem intensified. I also fall into the camp of thinking the smaller Illusiones are the better ones. You are learning quick - Tat/Pepin/Illusione are where it's at!!:blob:
