This Nicaraguan puro is wrapped in a dark caramel colored wrapper that appears to be a bit oily looking. There are some visible veins and a few seams are apparent. The wrapper is generally smooth and the cigar seems to be well packed with no soft spots. The foot has a strong hay like scent with some damp earth. I was going to smoke this last night with a bit of bourbon but it was too cold. Had it this morning with some good coffee to start the day.
After a straight cut the pre-draw has a taste of really dark bread and a bit of saltiness. The stick lit well and required no touch ups or relights during the entire smoke. The burn was wavy and not razor shape but nothing that all that was bothersome. The first third of the cigar started out with a medium amount of white pepper. This was most predominant on the retro. Notes of bread with some sweetness and a bit of some baking spice. Shortly in the pepper began to fade.
The Second third of the smoke became a bit cedary and nutty. There was a distinct floral note on the retro and hints of baked apple. The breadiness that I tasted during the first third is gone. At this point the cigar was medium strength but will good rich mellow flavor. The flavor transitions were subtle but they are there. Near perfect morning smoke with coffee for my tastes. The room note had a noticeable floral scent. The ash was a light grey and would develop nearly an inch in length before it looked like it might fall off.
The final third of the cigar progressed into a more cedary flavor. The aroma of this stick is just beautiful and floral. The flavor remained smooth and rich with some earthiness and pencil shavings adding in. Toward the very end of the smoke the saltiness reappeared with a nutty flavor reminiscent of salted boiled green peanuts. If you have ever had them you know exactly what I mean. If you haven't you are missing one of the finest treats in the world.
This cigar is excellent and provided a good 1 hour and 10 minutes of pleasure. Smooth, medium bodied, rich flavor. There is a whole lot to like in this stick.
