BoM August 2010/2011
Ernesto Perez-Carrillo officially launched his new "Core Line" cigar, which I reviewed previously. In addition, EPC launched a new Edicion Limitada 2010. This cigar uses an oily Brazilian Habano wrapper, which has slight veins present. Very solid construction, with a well-formed triple cap.
It will be released later this fall, and will be available in boxes of 10. Expected retail is $150 for the box.
Following a cut with my Palio, the pre-light draw had a slight cedar/spice flavor. The first third of the cigar was creamy, with cedar and some light spice. There was also a sweetness present, which at first I thought was honey. It was hidden in the background, but eventually I pegged it to be more of a caramel flavor.
With a razor-edge burn, resulting in a nice white, tight ash, the second third offered less cream than the first. The spice began to ramp up, and the cedar moved to the background. The same caramel sweetness was still lingering in the background, as was a little cinnamon.
The final third offered more of a leafy and cedar flavor. Nutmeg worked it's way in and out of the background, while there was still that subtle sweetness of caramel and cinnamon.
After I finished with this cigar, I had the taste of green pepper on the palate for quite some time. Very tasty! I cannot wait for this cigar to be released.
This cigar lasted over 1:45.
