BoM August 2010/2011
One of La Aurora's new cigars, the La Aurora Corojo, will be a B&M only offering. This cigar is the same binder and blend as the original La Aurora line, but the wrapper is a Corojo leaf, which will make the cigar stronger than the original.
The wrapper on the La Aurora Corojo is light brown, slightly oily, with a few noticeable veins. Construction is fairly soild, and the cigar has a well-formed triple cap.
The pre-light draw tastes of tobacco leaves and cedar.
The first third of the cigar has a strong cedar flavor, mixed with light pepper and pine. There is a subtle sweetness present that I cannot describe.
The middle third is woody, with a more subtle pepper on the tongue. There are notes of pine and cedar, as well as cinnamon and nutmeg on the back-end.
The flavor turns to a leafy profile in the last third of the cigar. There are bits of cedar, nutmeg and cinnamon.
The cigar had a burn that did need some touch ups, but overall burned well. It produced a somewhat flaky, light gray ash. Overall burn time for the cigar was close to 2 hours.
While this is a good cigar, it has more of a "dry" profile, which is not what I usually prefer. It is something I would smoke again, but I don't know if I would hunt for this one, personally. The "dryness" of the smoke is what led me to take more time overall to finish the cigar.
