  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Torano brought out three new cigars at IPCPR this year. First there will be the Brigade, a bundle cigar; second is the Single Region, which features tobacco all from one farm, vintage-style; and the third is the Master.

The Master is a collaboration between Carlos Torano and Felipe Sosa. It features a Nicaraguan tobacco. This cigar, along with the Single Region, will be sold only at B&Ms.

The Master has a solid construction. The wrapper is medium brown, with little to no veins, and a slight oily appearance. The only defect is a slight split in the foot (from traveling in my computer bag). The pre-light draw was of clean tobacco.

The first third of the Master was of very dry wood. There was a strong flavor of pepper in the first half-inch, mixed with a very subtle sweet chocolate. After that, the flavors were very muted, mainly showing the dry wood. There was also a heavy metallic taste.

Other than a loss of the pepper and the metallic flavors, there was little change in the second third.

Moving into the final third, there was no change in flavor. It was still dry wood, with very, very muted chocolate. With about one-and-a-half inches left, the cigar had an acrid taste, which prevented me from finishing.

I was not impressed at all with this cigar. I am not sure if this was a bad stick or not. I believe I have one more, so I might give it another try down the road. As it stands now, this cigar is not one that I will bother buying.
