  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Is it really necessary to spend a lot for a butane lighter?

If you don't want to spend money on lighters, go to Walmart and get yourself a Ronson... best $4 you'll ever spend. They last forever... well, until you lose it. lol
This.
At about $4, they aren't much more than a Bic. They wear out eventually, but I've found they last longer than many more expensive lighters. I usually buy a few at a time abs frequently give them away to new smokers. If I lose it or if someone walks away with it at an event it's no big loss. .I just grab another one. Ronson jet lite is the way to go.

Shhhhhhhh...... I still love my Zippo. Don't tell anyone though.

Every time I light my Zippo a hippy gets a job.

Hoshy, haven't seen you around! Well at least the threads I read... Thanks for the laugh bud! Hippies and zippos are like leprechauns and gold... Except if you follow the hippie's patchouli trail, you'll find a bong and a zippo with a peace sign on it...

I bought a ronson following BOTL advise and I like it. I modded it and beside its smallish tank all is ok.

I also have a zippo and a triple torch. Triple torch overtorch the cigar and you can taste that. Otherwise anything work. I still prefer cigar spills from the cedar sheet in the box. Makes a wider flamme.

Love cigar spills...ritualistic. Have had colibri items and think they are garbage. I personally won't buy their stuff anymore, just my experience though. I bought a Lotus for about 50.00 and it is a champ. I got the one with the guillotine on the back and it works awesome. Still cutting great after couple hundred cigars. Have another cheaper lighter that came with an Alec Bradley set (double flame) love the double flame for bigger cigars and windy days but the lighter itself is spotty.

Hahaha! Yeah, I haven't been posting as much but I'm still lurking. It is better to wade in the deep end of the pool sometimes.

Chuck I bought 20 of those for the 2011 HERF and almost half had problems with in months. Not sure if the quality has gone down on them since you bought them. Everything from the ignitor button flying off. To fuel pouring out of the bottom after filling. I won't buy anymore now that they're just about all gone.

Or you could go old school - cut a cedar sheet into strips, light it with anything, then light cigar with flaming strip. I started doing this when I noticed the smell of wooden matches too much. Adds to the ritual, too!

I bought 15 and the only ones that broke were the ones people dropped or left in 110% heat. Never an issue. Just bout 20 more for our cigar dinners. Let you know.

I figured at $2 a pop, they were throw aways. I was surprised they lasted this long. Cigar Cowboy gave me one that is steel but the damn thing doesnt shut off and I lit my shorts on fire one too many times

My fiance got me this for Christmas a couple years ago. I absolutely love it. I don't use the single blade cutter all that often but I have 3 or 4 different lighters and almost always find myself reaching for that one. The fuel tank is small but I just carry around an extra can of butane in my little care package if I run out.
