I hate video cigar reviews. I almost think when it comes to the cigar world they might very well be the only gay thing besides some flavored cigars. Of course by default with them being the only gay thing they become the gayest thing. I guess my beef with them is how long they are and they seem to be overly nit picky. To go along with the nit picky stuff it seems that there is so much fluff talked about concerning a cigar in an attempt to make the video review have substance.

This may be due to the fact that I like a short and sweet review that's text based. They're quick to read and have zero download time.

What about you guys? Video reviews yay or nay?

The only reviews I care about are those from my local cigar shop owner and you guys here on BotL.org.

i've never watched one so i can comment. But i think that sums it up.

oh, wait, i did watch that link of the couple guys and the gal in boston maybe, it was indeed gay and all fluffed with dramatics and it didn't feel real at all. didn't like it in terms of giving a quality review.

As someone who gets paid to produce videos...I gotta say that I haven't seen a cigar video review YET that I can actually sit and watch all the way through.

But I will admit that's usually due to the amateur-level, poor-quality production work and unfocused editing than the content of the review itself.

I mean, I just damn-near can't watch anything on YouTube, either.

I don't see how one can get the real feel for the ambiance of the cigar smoker. By the way, I spelled "ambiance and the" correctly. hehe. If the review looks like crap and the person doing the video review knows nothing, then how can the review be of any worth. The adage, garbage in, garbage out.

I personally prefer a well done, well produced magazine or podcast, such as DWSC and Stogie Review. It's great to have fun and I get more of the ambiance from Dale and Bob, as well as a true review from the cigars they are smoking. I personally do not like have assed, poorly edited publications, whether they are online, in print, audio or video.

Just my 2 cents worth!

For me smoking has never been a visual experience so I tend to like written reviews where I can think about it myself. I did watch that video bballbaby was talking about with that hot chick in boston. Not much information, but definately worth watching if you get what I'm saying. :smokingbo

Blah I didn't know it was going to turn into this. The fact that things like this don't really happen here is why I like this place.

I am of the opinion that poorly produced stuff normally lacks in substance. Think of it from an advertising point of view. If you were going to buy a box of cigars would you want the one that's just painted white, or one that has lacquer and a decorative picture on it? The one with the decoration has more effort put into it and it would lead one to believe it has something going for it. We know that's not always true but.......
