  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

It's BARBARINO Blind Review stick

50X5.5 torpedo

Smooth, slightly motled coffee brown, shimmering with crystals and oil. It's a very cool looking leaf.

Just rich tobacco off the foot (smell) same thing coming through the draw.

Gotta put on some tunes for this one.

Took a beautiful lighting. It's got a inviting smell to the smoke off the foot. (I can usually never describe what it actually smells like lol)

Creamy smoke right away, perfect burn but the retro burns..it's gonna need a minute to acclimate.

Creamy, a little sour.. A little sweet. This almost tastes like an Illusione 2.

So far this sticks laying out a medium profile. Not a powerful stick by any means. It has a butteriness to the smoke. It's smoking beautifully and stacking an ash like a roll of dimes. There's a wispy trail of smoke that's a constant off the foot, like a fuse as it burns down.

The profile hasn't changed much through the first inch other than a nice smooth retro has taken place of the first few puffs initial sting. Now that I think of it the sour I was getting on the start has vanished. On the long pulls, it's like a sweet, spicy, creamy, toasted Sarsaparilla. There is a tang that comes and goes.

The sweet cream and spice picked up immediately into the second third. Still smoking like a gem. I'm picking up a bit of earth into the middle here. There's also a slight uptick in strength. I can pull copious amounts of smoke effortlessly. The burn has been nothing short of superb. The profile has become sweet, creamy and filled with spicy earth.

I love this smoke. I'm going to stick with my assumption that it's an Illusione 2. The spice has picked up immediately into the final third. The sweetness has mixed into all the flavors VS being singled out on its own. Scratch that... There it is..full frontal. That makes me laugh when I write down what I'm experiencing and the cigar immediately makes me a liar. There is a nice strength in the finish. Lots of pepper on the retro...that's not a lie... I swear lol.

Not an overly complex smoke but very clean and enjoyable. The strength is enough to satisfy as well. With a profile that doesn't necessarily do a lot of morphing, you get an enhancement and melding of all the flavors through the duration. This would be a full strength lovers "Breakfast smoke" but can also hold its own after a meal as I just experienced.

What a great smoke. Thank you Andrew.

Smoke time: 1hr 15mins

One off Score: 92/100

This cigar is a Flatbed Cigar Company Panacea Black Maduro, you can read more about it on their website. Flatbed is a cool boutique company out of Pennsylvania. If I'm not mistaken, Paul (the owner) operates it as a side job (he does IT or something similar.) Cool little company, and some good sticks. I liked their White label Panacea, a Criollo wrapper on that blend. That one was in my humi for about a year or so, got it in the torpedo sampler. Glad you enjoyed it, brother!
