  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

After diving head first into the pipe world, I absolutely live the tins they come in, and the jars I transfer them to. I absolutely have a jar fetish. Anybody have a place they purchase above average storage jars? Or something odd? Can you possibly store tobacco in a jar with a cork? Or will it eventually dry out?

I've been thinking about getting a nice jar to use to hold a couple of sticks that I'd be smoking with a few days. I have a Tupperdor right now that's working far better than I could have hoped for but I am pretty certain my wife wouldn't want me to keep it in a place of prominence in the living room (can't, for the life of me, imagine why though). So, a jar might fit into the decor perfectly.

I am thinking about cruising around on Etsy and, if that doesn't work, get a plain glass jar and have it etched (either do it myself or take it somewhere). My wife has some beautiful jars from a trip overseas several years ago but the lids don't seal nor are the tall enough.

I'm not a pipe smoker but I assume that the need to have a lid that seals tightly is just as important?

My wife went out shopping today and picked up a clear glass canister that's about 7" in height and has a swing lid that seals. Perfect for what I was looking for and she paid $5.

I am familiar with those types of mason jars. They are great to store sticks in, as well as pipe tobacco if you're enough of a hoarder to have that much!
