the devil is a busy man.
hello! :tiphat:
no pictures... sorry! didn't have the camera/phone with me at the time.
the cigar smells like coffee and caramel. very nice. the wrapper is sweetened at the cap. construction is... spongy. it's a little weird. the stick is also what i'd call an extreme box-press. you almost have to watch out for sharp corners. i'm not sure if i'm into it, really. the wrapper is thin and fragile, but it looks nice. (i actually had to fix the wrapper with some pectin in a few spots before lighting up.)
it's lit now and smoking well enough. i'm not overjoyed with the flavor so far, but i'm only an inch in. most cigars open up by the end of the first third... so we'll see. for now, it's rather bland.
at the start of the 2nd third... i can taste quality in this stick, but i'm also forced to remember the abysmal swisher sweets i used to smoke as a kid. this is due in large part to the sweet aroma of the smoke and especially the sweetened cap of the cigar. the flavor of the smoke is more on the premium level, though, and doesn't reming me at all of those old CVS specials.
about halfway through now... the flavor has developed quite nicely, actually. it's very smooth and has notes of coffee (!), caramel (!), toast, and nut. i'm not digging the boxy shape, and the wrapper's thinness was off-putting... if it wasn't for those two things, i'd be enjoying this more. i really don't think it was necessary for Mr Patrew to put a sweetened tip on, either. honestly, it kinda takes away from the nice flavors.
overall, it's way more pleasant a smoke than i was expecting... it's not bitter at all. just a nice bunch of flavors with a pleasing aroma. this has developed into a very nice mild-medium smoke! the ash is dark grey and has been pretty flaky, but it stays on for a good 1 1/2" before needing to be released. the burn is even enough... not perfect (it's got minor canoeing going on, but it fixes itself quickly), but not bad. the middle of this cigar was quite nice. the beginning left a little to be desired, and it got a little ashy-tasting as i got past the band, but the majority of the smoke was pretty damn good.
i give it a B-. i'd buy more for the flavor, as it was good, but the design of the cigar leaves a little to be desired.
i'll try to post pics next time! sorry, brothers and sisters!
