Had a few packages to send off  and so I loaded up the kid and off we went. It was a beautiful day outside...sunny, low 70's with a nice breeze. I had decided to grab a cigar on my way out and for today's walk I picked up a JDN Antano 1970. It sports a nice chocolate brown wrapper and appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 4.5 x 46 (I could be wrong though). Seams are tight and there are only a few small veins. Feels well packed, but with a spongy quality.
There is a pleasant earthy/slightly sweet tobacco aroma coming off this puppy. The cap looks a little sloppy, but cuts cleanly. The draw is a little on the loose side and carries with it flavors of rich tobacco and some kind of spice.
The foot toasted easily though it did take a bit due to the wind playing havoc with my lighter. What this particular cigar lacks in size, it makes up for in everything else! Right off the bat there is a ton of smoke output . There is a strong leather flavor with a slightly sweet coffee through the nose. The finish is long and there is a nutty component on the end of it.
The burn is a little lop sided, but is consistent throughout. The ash is a medium to dark gray in color and holds pretty well.
This is a powerhouse and it didn't take long before I started to feel it in my stomach. Should have eaten a bigger breakfast. Got to the post office and had to cut off about 1/4 above the ash, purge, and pocket it for the return trip.
Upon returning outside, the cigar was a little difficult to get going again due to the wind (I keep saying it, but I really do need to get a butane lighter). The rest of the cigar was much the same as the start, except that in the 3/3 the leather died down some and a licorice flavor crept in. Overall a nice, powerful, cigar .
