  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey guys. Want to start off by saying thank you to Jere for allowing me to do this review. It actually made me sit down, and try to pick out the flavors in this stick. And, since it was the first time in a couple of weeks that I had been able to smoke, it was very much needed. So, here goes my review. Remember, I have only been smoking for about a year and a half, so bear with me on the noobness!! Just so you're aware of my surroundings, I smoked this in my work van last night. It was freezing, and I thought of no better place, than a warm van. And, it was nice and peaceful.

Prelight:

This may have been the most interesting part of all for me really. When I smelled this stick, I got pretty excited. At first, I smelled caramel. But as I continued, all I could place was Tollhouse cookies. Weird, right? I know, but thats all I kept getting from this. My mouth was literally watering and I was smiling from ear to ear. The construction to me was pretty rugged. The veins were a bit pronounced on this stick, which sometimes, I tend to like. Gives it some character. Size is about 5.5 x 46.

1/3:

As I geared up for some "Tollhouse cookies", I was a bit disappointed. And rightfully so. Its not a damn cookie. It was quite strong, and spicy on the tongue. I believe that Eddie said at one point, it kind of made his throat itchy. I picked up the same thing on the tongue and back of the throat. I tasted some earth, and what seemed like a hay like taste. Draw is good, needed 1 touchup, but seems to be pouring tons of smoke.

2/3:

The second third was still quite spicy. Almost like a faint cinnamon flavor. Still some subtle hay/grassy flavor in the background. Draw is still good, and had to touch up a couple more times. Maybe I should've dry boxed this first, but that is part of the learning experience I guess. Still pouring copius amounts of smoke.

3/3:

The last third, the spice is virtually gone. Maybe a little, if any. Here, is where the taste of hay to me, started to really pick up again. I could not pick up anymore flavors in this final third. Draw still good, getting a little hot on the lips, which is to be expected.

Conclusion:

If I can be honest, I didnt care for this cigar. The prelight was amazing! Lol. But from there, it went south. I could not get rid of the grassy taste. I was only drinking water, so I know that nothing was over powering it. It seems like most of the others enjoyed this stick, but it didnt seem like it was for me. Like I said, it has been a few weeks since I smoked, so maybe my tastebuds are off. Either way, the experience was enjoyable. I had always wanted to do one of these, but I was never sure if I knew what I was talking about. Still dont. Haha. Jere, thanks again for this opportunity. I appreciate it, as I know we all do.

Great review, Jared. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I'll reveal this cigar in the original contest thread.
