Jericho Hill OBS
Wrapper: Mexican San Andrés
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Size: 4 3/4 Inches
Ring Gauge: 52
Vitola: Robusto
Date: Sat 1/24
Temp: 40
Paired with Duclaw Devil's Due Bourbon Barrel Stout.
Was planning on smoking the following day so didn't do my normal overnight dry box.
Great construction with a kind of rustic look. Dark chocolate brown wrapper with a little tooth. Love the contrast of the black and pearl band.
Prelight aroma smells of sweet cocoa, leather with just a hint of cedar.
Prelight draw tastes of leather, barnyard and again a touch of sweet cedar.
Draw is great. First couple puffs are smooth with no spice. Just cocoa, leather and a barnyard finish. Once going produces good amount of billowing white smoke. Not much on retrohaling yet, but this one is smooth. Brings a little pepper to the mix.
1st third continues much the same with lots of cocoa leather and barnyard. Ash is a real light grey, almost white. A little pepper finally comes in about halfway through the first third. Had to do a minor touch up as I think the wind is affecting the burn a little.
2nd third the cocoa pulls back a little giving way more to the leather and cedar with a little pepper and the barnyard taste has fallen off a bit as well. Ash is holding quite nice though not pretty due to the wind and touch up. Retro toward the end of the middle third and into the final third is the most interesting thing ever. At one point I got a strong mix of horse radish and soy sauce and I have to say it was pretty amazing and caught me totally by surprise.
Had a couple other minor touch ups do to the wind but overall burned great with only about a half hour sitting out before lighting up.
Final third the pepper picks up a little more with the leather and cedar predominant and just a hint of cocoa remains.
Total burn time, and hour and 20 min.
Really love this stick and has become my everyday go to favorite.
