  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Churchhill?

Rosado wrapper

The packing shown through the foot is beautiful. The draw has a nice resistance to it. The blend is very familiar... Reminds me of something by Eddy Ortega.. A cinnamon spice, frosting sweetness, starting out with some good strength but it doesn't over power the profile. You can see the oil shinning at the edge of the burn line like a piece of graphite rock. The spice is picking up on the retro. There is a medicinal element that floods through the profile. The body has a creamy texture but finishes short and clean. The sweetness has taken on a tangy candy crossed with a powdered sugar finish. A bit of chocolate just came through and disappeared just as fast. I'm nearing the end of the first third.. So far so good. The burn is just on the verge of wanting to give me problems but is just teasing at the moment.
There is a toasted note weaving in and the strength has went up a tick. Dammit... I always forget to pay attention to when I started the smoke lol.. I usually just guess how long I've been at it once I remember.. Getting into the second third, the spice has become non existent through the retro; smooth as butter but interestingly is beginning to tickle the tip of my tongue. The strength is still full... After about 5 mins the spice is ramping back up. The burn seems to be working itself out...kinda lol. Spicy (again) creamy, the medicinal note has faded to the back a bit, still getting a bit of toastiness to the cream. I did a lighter purge to try and get the wrapper/filler burning in harmony again. Coming into the final third. The sweetness has dialed back a bit as well. There is a good amount of spice coating the back of my mouth and throat. The profile is rich and the strength is staying right at the beginning of full.
The smoke dries the mouth and throat now starting into the last part of this Churchill expedition. I've been trying to pin down a guess this whole time.. I feel like it's there in my mind, I just can't grab it yet. The profile has mixed it up a bit but stayed consistent with the flavors it started with. I'm going to guess a Diamond Crown Maximus.
The spice has really picked up through the retro nearing the nub. Holy shit, I just purged with a lighter again and the thing turned into a flame thrower....oily SOB! The strength has stayed consistent through out, which is surprising. I was expecting it to grow and grow into the nub but it's still a nice full.. It's strong but doesn't make you want to stop puffing on it. The sweetness is balancing well with the spice now. The cigar has stayed rich from the getgo. I'd like to smoke this after a sweet Asian meal with a big ass bowl of rice...hey lol that's what came to mind. The nub finished deliciously.

Smoke time 1hr 40mins

Score: 92

This stick ended up being a fresh Opux X D'Chateau-thanks Joe!
