well, I believe he's still in Houston. He's been thinking of leaving today, friday, or not at all. I believe he's 100% safe from flooding, but wind could be harsh, and there could be power issues. If he leaves today, it'll be a LONG drive. Tomorrow will be worse.

He's logged into AIM today, but it kjeeps booting him almost immediately. Likely alot of internet traffic there.

His cell of course, is useless.

I thought he said he was coming up to austin scott? After being through a cat 4 hurricane this summer in cozumel i DO NOT envy anyone who decides to stay. I heard some of the worse sounds of my entire life then. Creeking and groaning and windbands that sound like constant thunder till they get to you and sound like a 747 landing on your roof (eek), pitch black....so black u cant see anything I get chills just think9ing about it.

Currently, its taking about 10-12 hours to make the trip from Houston to Dallas. I heard its about between 7 and 8 hours to get to Austin. Basically... its the usual Houston traffic extended for about a few hundred miles each direction.

It's has been, continues to be, and will be awful for the next 72 hours.

Fingers are crossed that all this panic is for nothing... let it just be a piddly little storm when it hits.

He had said Wed that he was headed to Austin maybe around 2am this morning. I guess that might have gotten put off. Lots of people are running out of gas and being stranded headed out of town. The panic button will be hit in a few more hours and people will really freak. Hopefully they all get somewhere safe, it looks like this is going to be a bad one.

Honestly, it looks like the panic will be far worse than the actual storm.

We'll see.
