I must go Friday, I have never been yet and I'm not looking forward to this.

So I have compiled a list of the following reading material to bring:

The Cigar Enthusiast
The Cigar Book
Latest issue of Cigar Aficionado

Hopefully that will take care of my time if I don't get selected for a trial.

You are supposed to tell them in the initial screening that you think all criminals, regardless of the crime, should fry to weed out the gene pool. They will send you back home at that point.

Barely above the waterline.
If the trial is for a DUI, tell them that you drink a six-pack every night after work.

Guaranteed you'll be dismissed.

This works for virtually any genre.

If it's a shoplifter... tell them about when you.......

You get the idea..... :D

If it's for tax fraud...... :-#

It's not that bad. I did it for the first time over the summer and it was really interesting. The local smoke shop was only a block or two from the court house so on our hour lunch brakes, I could sneak out the back door to avoid the press (it was a murder trial were the victim was stabbed 23 times before she was strangled) and have a smoke.

I was excused from a jury pool during selection because I got into an argument with the judge! No joke. He was a pompous ass and I told him I didn't think I could follow his instructions because he was condescending to everyone he spoke to. He didn't appreciate that and excused me, I got to go home early!

Timing is key - spill your story too soon, and you get sent back to the big jury pool room to placed somewhere else.

I'm free!

I showed up, knew like 5 other people. The judge talked to us said it was going to be a high profile case. That they would talk to us today, then some of us would have to come back Monday or Tuesday for more questions. The actuall case was not till February tho.

Then they say we have 72 people, only need 60 for the process. They read a list of 12 popele and those people could go home. I was number 12!!!

I'm so happy.

Time for a ride to my favorite Cigar shop.

I have been in court so many times. The best way out of Jury duty is tell them you are a cop. You will be dismissed every time.

About 15 years ago I was subpoenaed for jury duty. I showed up and when it was my turn to answer questions the first thing they asked was my name. The defense attorney got a puzzled look on his face and interupted the District Attorney asking the questions. He asked me if I was familiar with this case, I answered "Yes I am, I arrested the defendant". Well I was dismissed.

I don't know it that would have even got me out of it. :smt081 :smt081 :smt081

When we were questioned before we knew ANY thing about the trial I thought ".....there is no way there going to keep me." Here is how it went....

Q - Do you know any one with the prosecution or defense?
A - Yes. I knew the defense attorney. Our daughters were in the same brownie troop. I left out the part about smoking ISOM's till 3am with him at one of the camping trips.

Q - Have you or any family members been a victim of a violent attack?
A- Yes. My brother was just stabbed 6 times about 2 months earlier. It was with a pair of needle nose pliers in the back. OUCH!!

Q - Do you have any time constraints?
A - Yes. I was excused from jury duty the following week for a planed vacation.

After all that, they still keep me on the jury. :smt017
