Good day friends. Since I was a little kid my family has spent a great deal of time before the holidays making candy. Mostly we make various flavors of hard candies (think jolly ranchers) but I have expanded a bit over the years and now I try to make all sorts of candies.
Today the girls and I are making saltwater taffy. Plans are for three batches. Apple, peppermint, and butterscotch.
Later tonight I will be starting the first few batches of hard candy. We will be making about 30 batches at my place and about 75 batches at my moms next weekend. Grand total should be around 200 to 225 pounds of candy.
