  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Alright my fellow cameroon buffoons, time for part V of this quest for the best. (and I can even rhyme while writing it...). I had been lazy and not put up the review and then praised this stick on another thread and, of course, Moro called me on it:smokingbo. So without further ado...

Up to bat this time around was the La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet (thanks to jgaeta for this one!).

Construction: The cigar I smoked was a 5x50 robusto and had a great leathery wrapper with some inconsistencies in the color but beautiful medium brown nonetheless. Not much in the way of oils but still nice and firm with a little give to the touch. The draw was PERFECT, i mean spot on perfect. The burn was also perfect and stayed razor straight the whole time.

Flavor: Okay so here's the interesting part, I'm having to do this by memory because I was so struck by this smoke (and the weather) that I basically said f*** my little black book, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this one (luckily I have another one thanks to Zen Cigar Man). What I did pick up was the expected sweet spice, but with more kick. According to Zen Cigar Man, this one has some ligero in it which would explain the extra oomph. Personally I think this is great since Cammies have a reputation for being mild smokes. Although it had oomph, it was smooth as butter and keep on right until I burned my lips on the nub. A also detected some nuttiness for the first third which then morphed into earthiness and some dark chocolate which then morphed into peppery spice for the final third. I know there were more flavors but there was so much going on with this stick that I couldn't pick them all out.

Overall: Wow, what can I say about this stick except that it was an extremely pleasant surprise. I enjoyed this one even more than the La Aurora Preferido robusto and in all honesty I'd have to say that this is the best cigar I've smoked so far this year. I actually like it so much that I'm currently trying to track down a few more to enjoy when I'm not in the mood to be let down by a cigar. When you factor in the price at around ~$7 per stick it only sweetens the deal, especially for an ass broke college student like myself. :smokingco. My only regret about this cigar was that it burned pretty fast and ended too soon! When factoring in the draw, burn, flavor, and cost I do not hesitate to give the LFD Cameroon Cabinet robusto a 9.3/10 Thanks for reading guys!

You are correct one of the top cammies out there. They are kinda HTF because they get swiped up because of there price tag. Nice review and I had the exact same reaction when I first tried this stick.

You have got to smoke the LFD Double Ligero Cameroon Lancero. I will be shocked if it does not replace your number one.
What?!?! I was unaware of it's existance...

The Cam cab is a favorite Cam stick, but I gotta try one of the DL cam lances! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled..!

Bull - great review & spot on!

Moose, glad you like the Cameron Cabinet. One of my favorites. These also age VERY well. As far as the blend, the wrapper is described as Cameroon ligero, as it is quite darker than most others and probably has spent more time on the plant.
Great review by the way!

@Zen Cigar Man, thanks for the clarification. In your note you mentioned ligero but I mistook that as ligero filler, so I'm just glad that I understand now :stretchgr

Oh, and uncelnino, you are the man!

Hey Bull Moose, you should check out the AF Don Carlos line as well...I have 1 but haven't smoked it yet. I'm told it's like a Hemingway but also a bit spicy...sounds like a mix that you'd really enjoy!

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I've been meaning to try one of those, just haven't quite gotten around to it yet. I'll be sure to let you know when I do and we can compare notes. :smokingbo

I have to say that this cigar looks like one of the most intriguing cigars around for me right now, and this review is not helping to quell my desire to try one! Does anybody have any experience with this cigar and the ashton heritage puro sol? They seem like they could have similarities on paper, but of course that doesn't always translate into the real world.

Very different the two. The LFD is much more in your face. I find that the Ashton is pretty mild compared to the LFD.

I just hope I like that Ashton, I recently won a stick off of the devil site. I'll let you guys know once I get a chance to light it up!

I'm thinking though that I've kind of avoided the more budget-friendly side of the cammy sticks. I'll make sure my next review is on one of the more affordable smokes.
