  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I hate to say this but the 60% AVB is kinda getting to me. I like the taste but I'm having a hard time really getting into it. I had some time ago really liked whiskey and was able to drink it normally. I'm trying to see what it would be to mix it with that won't kill the flavor totally.

Has anybody else tried this?

Not yet, and I keep meaning to pick some up. I love Knob Creek, it's my go-to. I remember getting the notification this was coming out, just haven't been able to make myself pick some up.

I drink Stagg neat, so I can't really relate, lol.

Add some water (distilled preferably) to it. That's really the only acceptable "mixer" for a whiskey like this. IMNSHO, of course.

If you like your Whiskey cold, but prefer not to water it down, check these out. My dad got me set and they are awesome.
Cool, I'll have to get some of those. The KCSB is pretty good stuff. The first glass, I'll add a cube or two of ice, but usually the second glass I'll just drink it straight. It may not become my go-to whiskey, but I'll keep some on the liquor shelf.

I was just at the Makers Mark and Jim Beam distilleries this past weekend. I can NOT drink bourbon without mixing it with something. CAN NOT. I don't really drink anyways. I picked up a bottle of JB's Red Stag and mix it with diet coke...and to me its awesome. I'm a puss. Feel free to flame for cutting bourbon with a soda. I respect all you real men who drink bourbon clean.

I won't flame anyone for cutting beam with coke, that's what it's made for. Just don't cut high-end bourbon with coke.

Damn son you were right down the road. Did you compete in the Derby Festival competition?

The what a what a who? Dang man, if I ever make it out that way again I will for sure hit you up!
Yeah hit me up next time.

What I was referring to was the NPC Kentucky Derby Festival Bodybuilding Championship that was this past weekend. Thought you might have been in town for that and then ventured down South a bit to the Makers and Beam distilleries.

I was at a Small batch tasting once led by John Booker Noe III who gave a great quote about adding water to your Bourbon (Bookers at the time in the tasting).

You NEVER add water to Bourbon, you only ADD bourbon to water. When you add water to bourbon you are making a great drink worse. When you add bourbon to water you are making a medicore drink fantastic!. I always pour my bourbon over Ice.

To stay on topic I didn't know Knob Creek was making a single barrel. I will have to go looking for it TONIGHT!!

That Knob single barrel is nice! I have a bottle on our shelf and it is very rich and viscous. Smooth for a 120proof bourbon. Be on the lookout for the new Beam "Devils Cut" that is extracted from barrels. We got some pre-released samples and I am liking it.

I picked some of this up the other day. I love the higher proof bourbons so I'm expecting the best from this.
