  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

When I first sat down to smoke this I did not intend to do a review as I have never done one before. Therefore I do not have any pictures but I did take one of another one I had.

Upon first light, it started out very mild with just a little bit of spice. I was concerned that it would be too mild for my taste. Flavors were nice, I do not have a very discerning palette. Very good tobacco taste with some sweet spice, not necessarily pepper.

5 to 10 minutes in the sweet spice became very prominent with hints wood. It became medium to full leaning to more full bodied. At this point I was in cigar smoking heaven.

It continued this way for the rest of the cigar. The hints of wood increased in the last third but the beautiful spice never left. There was some transformation between each third but honestly I wasn't paying much attention because it was so damn good.

I nubbed it as it starting to burn down the tapered head. At that point it finally started getting hot and I had a nice nicotine buzz going.

For reference, I have not had any of the cigars most seem to consider super premiums; CC's, Opus X or any of the higher end Fuentes, premium Padrons, and limited Tats. I have had some Tat Havana IV's and Noellas, Cabaiguan Guapos, La Riquezza, Ashton VSG's, Camacho Liberties - 07, 08 ,and 09. I also love the Emerald Preferidos from La Aurora. Saying all that, the 100 Anos was one of if not the best smoke I have ever had. If the super premiums I have not tried are equal to or better than this I will have to rethink my cigar budget.

Putting my money where my mouth is I just ordered more, and I will have a post on the Daily Cigar Deal thread pointing out where.

In short, if you have not tried this, it is worth a smoke and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Jamie

Thanks for the review.

I've got the robusto 100 Anos (courtesy of jwintosh) that I'm going to review soon. Can't wait to smoke it.

I like this smoke also. Heard it had been discontinued. Anybody else heard that? BTW, nice review.

The last of the tobacco for the Aurora 100 Años brand is finished now that the Lancero has finally been released. Boxes started shipping to retailers on August 18, only a week after its official debut at this year’s International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailer’s trade show.
The robusto and belicoso ran out a while ago...
