  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

5 x 54 (Perfecto)
Filler – Piloto Cubano, Bahía y Cameroon
Binder – Piloto Cubano
Wrapper – Corojo
Price - $12-$14
This perfecto line was first produced in 1903, in the Dominican Republic. Produced only by the best rollers in the factory, this line has no more than 100 cigars produced per day due to the skill and time they require.

After opening the tubo this cigar came in, I appreciated the leathery, smooth and oily wrapper. With virtually no veins at all and no soft spots as far as one could feel I proceeded to clip off the cap of this perfecto with such an attractive band. The draw was superb. The pre-light draw gave a caramel sweet flavor with sweet spices, as well as notes of earth, a tad of pepper.
After it lit, the cigar gave a more than fair amount of a blue-ish smoke with every puff. With a profile of mostly earth and pepper, yet with a hint of that caramel it first gave, the cigar burns well through its first 3rd, leaving behind a grey, yet incredibly solid, ash.
The cigar then develops to provide a much more peppery, much more dry smoke, along with wood notes, retaining, though, the sweetness it had in the background notes. The draw remains superb and consistent (a chore not so easy to get from a perfecto), yet the burn has required some minor touch ups by now.
Closing to the middle of the second 3rd, the cigar still holds its ash. The flavor profile has developed into a balance of sweetness and pepper, giving a spicy, yet creamy smoke. The ash fell first at 2 ¾”. Later on, once it got to the third 3rd, the cigar once again went back to its earthy and peppery self, sending back the caramel and sweet spices to a 2nd position.

Appearance – 4 ½ stars due to a minor knick in the wrapper.
Construction – 3 ½ stars due to burn issues.
Flavor – 4 stars

Overall – 4 stars. A great cigar I wouldn’t hesitate on smoking again. Asides from the burn issues and price, I’d suggest it to anybody.

Thanks for the review Moro! Never had one before and it is something I will put on my list of things to try. So 4 stars is like what an 80 lol?

Nice review Alfonso! I've only had one of the Cameroons, but I really liked it. It was a very complex and tasty smoke.

Great review Alfonso! I've yet to try any of these in the tubos. Imho they are the most beautiful tubos I've seen.
