My Father, La Duena, Petite Belicoso No. 9 ( 4-3/4 x 48 )
Prelight
I love this band. Helps that red is my favorite color. Attractive wrapper. Milk chocolate in color, somewhat rustic. There are some spots where the edge of the leaf seems to be a bit from making flush contact with the cigar. Doesn't particularly bother me.
1st 3rd
Initial blast of pepper. Only lasted the first few puffs. Sweet cedar. Some cream. Woodiness on the finish. Spice returns before the 3rd ends.
2nd 3rd
Spice has dissipated greatly. Sweet tobacco flavor at this point. Sweet raisin on the retrohale? The burn needed a correction.
Final 3rd
The spice returns in the final third. More than before. This was announced with a singe on the retorhale. Cream is back as well. The strength has picked up. Nice nicotine buzz going. A rich tobacco flavor to end things.
Conclusion
I did not enjoy this as much as I had hoped. This is my second one. The first was had about a month ago and was great. This one had been sitting at 69% for a week+ and I suspect it was a little wet for my liking. I have been shuffling around my storage freezing everything. The burn was jagged most of the way, but only required one correction.
This one gets a 7/10...but the previous would've been more like an 8/10
