  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Lancero Oscuro

Dark, smooth lancero with a cute pigtail. The ash was white and cracked, but not tremendously sturdy. The draw was a little loose throughout the smoke and it went out on me a few times. The burn was a little uneven throughout the smoke as well. The smoke started off very strong with a tremendously woody core, but became more medium bodied by the middle maintaining its woody character. There were some subtle vanilla hints hidden within the first half, but it was reduced to only its woody core in the second half. It maintained good flavor, but lacked the complexity I expected out of the la flor dl series. The smoke was thick at some points and sparse at others. The final third of he cigar was marred by bitterness, and I could only grade it as if it was made in a hurry, like a paper written only because it had to be and not because any thought or effort had been put into it. I had heard good things about this cigar, but was dissappointed in its qualities, especially since I have come to expect so much from la flor cigars these days. In the end I had to let it die out, because I just couldnt take it anymore. This is not a smoke I will soon recomend to anyone, nor will I try again until it's a little more mature.:nono:

Next time, don't hold back and tell us how you really feel!!!

Seriously, I like to try a few of the same cigar before totally writing it off. Sometimes you just get a dud.

I ve had plenty of the double ligero's to know what to expect. I think thats what caught me off gaurd. I wanted to like the cigar I really did, but it was just bad. And hopefully you are right! I really hope I got a dud, because that means the other two that are sitting in my humi right now are gonna surprise me, and who doesnt like a good surprise right? I keep a journal of all the cigars Ive smoked, and I try to write em how they are so I can go back and s., Its nice to be able to share them here and get feedback. Sorry, I wasnt trying to deter you, just make you say hmmmm, maybe Illl spend 9 bucks on a VSG instead of the la flor today. Cheers mate!

I'm curious what 4-5 years would do for these cigars as I have had the same experience with several different vitolas.

Who knows, these could be classics in the years to come?

Mine also died out a couple of times. I had HUGE expectations because these are Litto's personal smokes and originally these were not planned to be made for the public. I almost bought a box without trying them due to all the great things I heard about them but maybe " Litto Gomez' personal smokes" created the legend as opposed to the actual taste and performance.

I have one more sitting in my humi ... I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I smoked one last week that was 2 years old and it was awesome. I still like the LfD Dbl Ligero Lancero Oscuro, but I think the name needs to be shortened.
