La Gloria Cubana line of cigars was first started by Ernesto Perez Carrillo Sr., a former Cuban Senator who fled Cuba in 1959. He began making his blind of cigars in the heart of Little Havana in Miami Florida in 1968; shortly thereafter they became a local favorite. In 1980 Ernesto Jr. started blinding what then was a unique combination of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco that made La Gloria Cubana a bold full-flavored and richer tasting cigar. He later added Mexican tobacco to the blind to add to the complexity of the cigars. Now with the successful efforts of Ernesto and Ernesto Jr. La Gloria Cubana Cigars are one the worlds most famous.
The look of the LGC Maduro is oily smooth, slightly toothy, with small veins. It is firm and it has no spongy are soft areas. It also has a definite heft in the hand. It looks to have a double cap. The aroma is a delight with a sweet espresso and woodsy cedar smell; it also contains a slight earthy and leathery aroma to it. So lets cut it with my trusty Palio.
The draw is near perfect with just the right amount of back pressure. It has a wonderful sweet nutty flavor like a sweet salty pistachio nut or pecan, along with coffee bean, it also carries earthy woodsy flavor, with a hint of fresh cut hey. Ok its that time again, time to burn.
About 1 inch in there is this coffee bean; espresso if you like is coming on, with the earthy woodsy sweet nutty taste showing. There is a slight pepper taste as well. The burn is even not really sharp but even. There is a good amount of smoke; its not copious but ample. The finish is short.
3 inches in and all the flavor are holding true. The pepper taste is getting stronger. The ash just fell of, and of course it fell on the carpet. The wife is going to love that.
4 inches and all the flavors are holding true, the pepper is even stronger now. I was getting a tingle on my tong and palate. The smoke is copious now, and the finish is longer. The ash is looking funny, so Im going to ash it so the wife wont munch on my ash. My beverage is a Dr. Pepper.
The flavors held true all the way to putting it down. So I must most heartedly recommend this cigar. If you like these flavors, you will like it as well.
These are some of my gadgets.
