  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

In an effort to contribute more to the forum, I sat down the other night to review this stick. I know it has been reviewed before but I have not read them and this is the cigar I chose for my first review...

I received it in a trade and is the only one I have tried. I believe it to be a Toro size.

Construction wise, it felt nice and tight with no apparent soft spots. There were few fine veins with a thicker one running almost the length of the stick and a 3/4" lump that looked like a stem around the beginning of the 2nd 3rd.

The wrapper has a nice brown color, toothy and rough, almost like sandpaper...

The aroma I get from the body is a sweet earthy, like good compost...foot has a sweet tobacco to it...I like it so far.

After clipping the cap, the 1st 3rd starts with a hit of pepper that works the tongue and throat, I let the cigar sit for a little bit and resume the session. I pick up a faint sweet smoke but with a strong bitterness on the finish. The pepper mellowed out considerably by now.

The smoke coming out the foot smell really good, I'd say like coffee grounds...The ash is tight but at just a little over 1" falls like a rock on my lap.

The burn lines stays fairly straight until it hits the point where the "stem lump" was but it corrects and we keep on going without having to touch up with the lighter. Lately when I smoke I've been working a keeping the amber burning evenly and it is working well so far.

The flavors on the second 3rd were mostly bitter with hints of pepper...I'm not liking this bitter taste at all and was hoping that it would have either mellowed out or be gone by now...

The ash drops once again and I try to hold on and see if the bitterness goes away but it finally wins and I set the stick down for the last time.

Everything about his stick was on point except that strong bitter taste...Bummer it did not go as well as I was expecting but such is life.

I love these and always keep some in my humi. They do need some rest time though. It's a great value at under $3 most of the time.

I really like the Core but really didn't like the Oscuro Fuerte unfortunately. I got a flat bitter flavor profile vs. the spicey powerhouse that is the Core.
