  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

yesterday, i tried the Oscura Fuerte. today, i tried the regular LHC line.

no pics, as i didn't have my camera with me, but here is some info for you: (click.)

upon lighting, i get coffee, cocoa, and spice. there's a "baker's chocolate" feel going on. the aroma is pleasant. curious to see how this one develops. the finish at this point is nutty and peppery.

an inch in, the ash is tight on one side and flaky on the other. it's a little strange. burn is a little uneven, but i get the feeling it'll correct itself in time. ash fell off easily at about an inch.

halfway: not the most special cigar i've had, but it's pretty nice! the flavors are mellow, but not muddled or muted. there's a nuttiness and a woodiness, and a hint of chocolate sweetness on the finish. the draw is solid... not tight, just solid. the burn has evened out nicely. the flavors have smoothed out and the balance is good. there's still a hint of pepper along with the aforementioned notes.

spoke too soon about the burn, it seems. it's gotten a little uneven, possibly from smoking too quickly. i think it will even out on its own...

...no such luck. needed a touch up.

much the same flavors and smoothness after a relight. not much else to say, really.

overall, this is a decent cigar. a good knock-around/everyday/giveaway smoke. not spectacular, but far from bad. i liked the Oscura Fuerte more than this one... but i can see someone having the opposite preference. either way, La Herencia Cubana is a good smoke for the money.

GRADES:

Appearance... A- only one blemish to be found on an otherwise beautiful wrapper.

Construction... B- a little lumpy, but solid. found a tiny little hole while lighting... it was near the foot, so no problem.

Flavor... B- nothing special, but good and smooth.

Burn… C some issues with unevenness.

Draw... B- a little on the tight side. not bad, though.

OVERALL GRADE… B-

thanks for reading! :cbig:

Thanks for the review . Had one of these last night and didn't care for it that much. Flavors weren't all that great and it was a little harsh past the 1/3. Maybe it was just the cigar I got though :dunno:.

hmmm.... this one was definitely not harsh like that. must've been your stick, as this one just got smoother.

yeah, like i said it wasn't anything spectacular, but it certainly wasn't a bad smoke.
