Just want to start this review by stating that I haven't smoked the No. 2 yet, so I can't compare this cigar to it as I smoke.
The No. 5 is a visually appealing cigar with minimal veins and a cool looking fan cap. The cigar is packed full of tobacco and has a nice weight to it for it's size. Pre light draw seemed to be a bit tight, but not too bad. I usually cold draw a small amount, inhale and breathe out through the nose to try to pick up flavors. With a strong cigar I have to take a very small puff or it is harsh on the lungs. In the case of the No. 5 I could take a big puff without it being harsh. Seemed a bit on the mild side with just a little bit of a hay like spicy flavor to it.
First third - the draw is a little on the light side, but nothing to be overly concerned about. Strength is mild to medium and the flavor is a bit of cedar and spice. Burn has been solid so far and the whitish ash is holding well past an inch.
Second third - Well, the ash held for an inch and a half then conveniently fell right in my lap. Strength and flavor has really picked up to more of a medium and the flavor, while similar to the first third, is much more prominent. The retrohale has gotten much more intense with a little bit of pepper burn. Draw has opened up and is smoking very well now.
Final third - smoking through the No. 5 the cigar has slowly built in in strength and flavor the entire time. It never seemed to get much over a medium, but had a good flavor to it. The draw really opened up as I smoked it. I actually enjoyed this cigar because of the fact it slowly built as I smoked along. There was definitely a cedar flavor on the tongue to the finish. I know the price point will make some expect a lot from this cigar and that may lead to a slight disappointment, but I think if you can get past the price point it is an enjoyable smoke and I would definitely recommend this one.
