  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Had my first La Ricky tonight. I was a little disappointed. Not a bad smoke, but it just was not on the same level as most of the other smokes I have had from Pete or Pepin. No real problems, just no real WOW factor. Full review and photos on the blog HERE. Thanks for reading as always guys.

It was by no means bad in any way, it just didn't impress me quite like so many of the Tats or Pepins I've had previously. I would gladly smoke more, and even buy them at the right price, but if I can choose between a LR and a Noella, which at my local is the same price, I'm going to buy the Noella every time.

Thanks for your opinions! The La Ricky didn't impress me at first either. IMVHO, with age they are MUCH better. Also, for me this is a clean palate smoke. But I like them a lot now.

yup. same here. bought a five pack of La Riqueza robustos... so far, i've had two. they really didn't do anything for me. i'm wondering if aging will do anything to make them at all enjoyable or if i should just trade them for something that i will enjoy.

Thanks for the review!
I like these so it just goes to show different strokes for different folks. I think the age wondefully and you should try an older stick. I have a box of no 1 from 07 resting unopened and a few singles in the humi.

The first one I smoked, a #4 Cab, was one of the best Tatuaje's I've ever had. I've had several #4 cab's since and none have been as good as that 1st one. They are still a solid enjoyable smoke though.

I was disappointed too after my first La Riqueza, but when i smoked my second one i found that there were actually a lot of subtle notes that i didn't pick up the first time. I always have at least a couple of them in my humidor.

I love the LR... I ve only smoked the #5 and #4's... I will be smoking the #3 tonight so we'll see if they're as good to me.

This latest 5'er of LR #3 that I got doesn't seem to have the dark and toothy broadleaf wrapper as the others I've smoked. They look very light and smooth... makes me wonder if they ran out of broadleaf.

Well, based on the responses here and elsewhere it seems like I need to grab a few more of these and forget them for a while and come back when they have some time on them.

Just sounds like you just had "Tat" in your head the entire time you smoked it. It is a different profile and needs to be taken for that. Personally, I like the profile for a good medium smoke.
