  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ok,
So Ive had this cigar in my humi since 8-10-10. The day of meeting Jmatkins and Sofc...
So this particular cigar was gifted to me (my 1st experience with BOTL smackage and math) by Ara (Sofc)...

The cigar is a nice mottled dark brown. seams are very visible and veins are minimal. There are a couple chips along the seam on this cigar as ive had it in and out of my humi a few times.

Im not sure why, bit I was thinking at some point that this was a Tatuaje 'Value' line... I guess i was WRONG!

So the nice triple Cap clips cleanly. One of the smoothest clip lines I have ever managed. No jagged edges or loose bits... Man I hate those loose bits...

The cold draw reveals smooth tobacco and a really TIGHT draw.:angerhead:angerhead

Despite the draw the cigar lights perfectly. Right off the bat 1st draw I feel the cigar has settled in. No pepper, just nice smooth rich tobacco. I slight hint of a hot spice is there, but it is really subtle. Very well balanced. The retrohale reveals that flavor in a cigar that i really love. a somewhat complex smooth aged tobacco. I can retrohale every puff without any pepper burny consequences. WOW I am liking this cigar despite the draw.

If the draw was better in this cigar I would be LOVING IT. The draw is too tight, but surprisingly doesnt prove problematic.

The body is fairly mild - medium leaning medium and there some good flavors of aged tobacco with subltle hints of nuts and peppers (not hot peppers).

The main theme of smooth tobacoo and earth are present most of the cigar.

Now I picked this cigar out of the humi thinking it would be a quick smoke. Max an hour - hour and fifteen. I smoked this one for 45 minutes and was barely at the half way point.

Just after the half way point I chucked it cuz I had to pick up the kiddos.

This was a really good cigar. I had two issues with it.
1 - the Draw was WAY too tight. really wasnt pleasant.

2 - the aftertaste was fairly bad.(not the finish, the taste after I was done with the cigar) - Probably cuz the draw was so tight I really had to heat it up to get the smoke out of it.

--Sorry, no pics forgot my camera.--

Give it another try, I scored a box a while ago and love them. I've smoked about 5 or so and the construction/draw has been spot on. With every one I get a refined sweet aftertaste close to black cherries, weird but its there. Thanks for the review!

There was a sweet taste there, that I couldnt put my finger on.... I was thinking a sweet pepper, but now that you mention this it could have been a sweet dried fruit or sweet cherry.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I really like the Riquezas, the flavor strength and complexity suit me well and I've never had a Draw issue with one. Perhaps you got a bad stick? I would give this cigar another shot :)

Favorite size in the line. I still have half a box from the original release still (out of 2 boxes). I tend to hoard them. Thanks for the review.

love the la riqueza line! can't remember ever having a draw problem, so hopefully it was just a fluke.

Like everyone else I'd recommend giving it another go. The few I've had have been good.

Funny enough I re - read your review after I posted this and you had a tight draw on yours too. probably not as tight as mine, but I thought it funny you mentioned it.

....

I will give these another try if I get my hands on more.

I think I packed my last one of that size for a bomb yesterday. I will check and see.

Yeah, the one I smoked for the review had a tighter draw. I've smoked a few others since then and they've all been okay.
