  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

These cigars were discontinued some years ago and even though they keep doing the Champagne and Maduro, they are not the same blend. According to Cigarcyclopedia:

Known initially as the La Tradicion Cabinet Series Perdomo Reserve (introduced 1998), there were four different wrapper choices: Nicaraguan sun-grown White-label wrappers, the Gold label “Champagne” series with Connecticut Shade wrappers; a Red-label-style with Nicaraguan-grown maduro wrappers (1999 introduction) and the Silver-label Cameroon wrapped edition (2003). The result was a medium-to-full-bodied taste in the Champagne series and a full-bodied taste in the others, presented in the 8-9-8 format in Spanish Cedar cabinets of 25. All except one size of the Champagne and Maduro blends were discontinued in 2008.
I bought some Champagne Connecticut, Cameroon and Sun-grown (all 5x54, robusto) from fireman_mike. According to Mike, they are 6 years old, which I wouldn't doubt from a man who knows the Perdomo family, and the look of the cellos on these sticks. I decided to try the Sun-grown first:

The aroma is awesome...It's just pure old tobacco with some floral aroma. Right of the bat, tooons of pepper. Really spicy, and a long finish. Ash is strong, but kinda flaky on sides. Burn was not razor sharp and needed some touch-ups. The draw was on the loose side but good.

Full-bodied flavored, and mid-full strength...Ash holded all the way up to the half of the cigar! Never had something like that before.

On 3/3:
Pepper disappeared, more sweet, got hot at last half inch, tobacco and floral aroma, better draw, better burn and a little bit of coffee notes.

Thanks Mike for these sticks!!
