  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

First time reviewing here but figured i'd take a stab at it...

LVH Leather Patch 5 x 54
Aged ~1 year

Prelight:
It was a nice night out about 60 degrees with no wind. The cigar was cut with a bullet punch and light with cedar matches. The wrapper had some pronounced veins upon first look and appeared to be well constructed. Accompanied with a Dewars 12 year.

1st ash:
The cigar started out very one-dimensional with a leathery taste and was medium in strength. As time went by it developed a cedar aspect and became more flavorful about 1-1.5" in. It had a good burn but was slightly uneven for most of the cigar. Construction was good and I first ashed it at just over 2".

2nd ash:
At this point the cigar had developed a spicier, somewhat earthy taste, but was still not too impressive. It began to burn hot with about 2.5" left in the cigar so I let it burn at at that point.

It was an enjoyable cigar, but there wasn't much depth of character and it kinda left something to be desired. All in all it was a good cigar for weekday night, but i don't think i will be buying more (I got it as part of a sampler from CI last summer). I'd give it somewhere around an 87 overall.

nice review, but personally i think 87 is a little high for something you do not think you will buy again.

I like your review format with the stage of ash instead of splitting it into 3rd's or quarters. 87 is far to high for this smoke this is a yard gar but even that might be a stretch when I could smoke some AF chateau SG's for like $3 a stick and get far more flavor that that old dog turd.

Funny thing is I have had this cigar when it was on and the stars were alligned and though it was great. Bought a box and rarely had a good one after the first experience. Good review. Brought back memories.

Yes it can be hit or miss, I bought a box of these earlly on in my cigar buying. It was good for a cheap smoke, I do pick some up from now and then and hope they are as good as the first few I had.
