BOTL's and SOTL's (Brothers / Sisters of the Lancero? :D)

This was the first year I started to understand Lancero's, what makes them so special and really started to develop an appreciation for these reedy elongated smokes!

I have an idea I wanted to run by you all:

For the Vets:
I want to make it easier for the new guys (myself included) to understand and track down good Lancero's for next year so I would appreciate your help with this.

I want to make a running list of Lanceros so that everyone is well prepared for the shenanigans next year. I'll post a list of all the Lancero's I am aware of (which won't be very extensive as I'm new to them) and I'd like others to do the same. Each time a new list is posted I'll update the master list. I was thinking we could just list them alphabetically by maker, happy to get your input on this. I would also be keen to include "almost" Lancero's too, but want to get your input for what the size limitations would be. The standard Cuban measurement for a Lancero is 7 1/2 Inch by 38 RG, I know there are a lot of sticks close to this that classify as a Lancero or are close enough to this that we shouldn't exclude them, what do you guys think the size parameters should be for this thread? According to stogiefresh.info : A Lancero is a long thin cigar, usually between 6.5-7.5 inches in length and between 38-42 ring gauge.
Agree? Make the parameters larger? Smaller? For instance I would feel comfortable smoking a 6inch x 36RG cigar during Lance Feb, or do we make it strict with the cut off sizes? Happy to hear input.

To keep it civilized:
1. I'd ask you list the maker and full name of the cigar to ensure people looking for them can search for them.
2. If you are unsure of spelling maybe google it first, we don't want to give the new guys a bum steer.
3. Only post Lancero's that are not already on the list, I'll do my best to keep the master list in this post updated all the time.

For the Noobs:
A good read to get you in the mood for a Lancero: Cigar Aficionado - The Love of Lanceros
I hope this is informative and a bit of fun for you guys, let me know if you would like to see anything else in this thread? Once we have a good list we can look at what might be beneficial, whether it be rating them, price point etc. For now though I'd like to focus on beefing this page out with an extensive list of Lancero's in preparation for next FEB. I'll get the ball rolling :

If I've made any mistakes please let me know and I'll fix them, all cigars are listed alphabetically by maker, followed by the name of the stick, I'm probably looking too far into this, but once I get interested in something the tendency is always to overdo it~:

Let no BOTL go without a good variety of Lancero's next February! Both Veteran and Noob input will be very much appreciated!

RomaCraft also has the Aquitaine Atlatl, La Paulina has the red and black label petite lanceros which may or may not meet your guidelines (technically they are lonsdales). The Don Pepin Garcia Blue label lancero is world class imo. Also a huge fan of the Cain F lancero. I'm sure there are a lot more I am missing but those are off the top of my head.

Crowned Heads - Headley Grange - Drumstick was made. You won't be able to find boxes but you could potentially get a single or two in trade.

Crowned Heads - JD Howard Reserve - Single Action is a Petite Lancero

Warped - La Colmena - Amado No. 36 is a petite lancero

Warped - El Oso - Mama

Warped - Flor Del Valle - Cristales is a 6 X 42 "long corona"

Drew Estate-Herrera Esteli-Norteno has a 6.5 X 44 Lonsdale

Caldwell has some but the only name off the top of my head is
Caldwell-Long Live The King-My Style Is Jalapeño

This is a great thread and hopefully will help with the fun of other members as well, getting in on lancero February next year. I was brand new last year in 2015, never smoked a lancero then. I got to smoke a few that were gifted to me this month when I had the time and actually had a blast. I stepped out of my comfort zone as I probably wouldn't have touched these if I wasn't here on BOTL.

Updated! Thanks @Erikcooper love the El Oso Mama too but forgot it, where's my head at today!
This is why we're all here!! To help others down slopes, I mean with knowledge of the lanceros....yeah that's it.

I won a Tatuaje lancero sampler box today from one of those bidding places. I went through the month with out even one lancero. I told myself never again. Next year I will have at least one for every day of the month. Oh yea almost forgot I have a 5r of the MF#4 coming any day also. I know October is monster month any other themes I need to prepare for?

The cigar I smoked on thanksgiving day that got me back into cigars after @12 yrs was a Macanudo portofino and I loved every puff of it. Can you put that one on the list for me. I will smoke one every thanksgiving as long as I am able.

Avo makes a heritage lancero that, while out of production, is not hard to find. And is very tasty.
I also tend to lump the partagas 898 in as a lancero, even though it's a 43 ring gauge.
Leaf by oscar makes a great lancero, though they can be a little tricky to find.

Great idea for the list!

Haha I'm in the same boat. I owned three lanceros (one petite) prior to the month, bought a few more locally, a few more online, and traded for a couple more all during February or shortly prior in preparation for the month, and didn't smoke any. Work, buying a house, other stuff got in the way. My new house has a nice patio that's going to be my smoking area, so I am with you on having at least one a day next February!
