Hey guys, this year marks the 50th anniversary of premium handmade cigars being produced out of Nicaragua. The first cigar factory in Nicaragua, Joya de Nicaragua, is celebrating their 50th anniversary and have a storied history. They were once the official cigar of the White House and survived through the Nicaraguan Civil War. Recently I was down in Estelí, Nicaragua and as part of our podcast filmed a portion of the interview covering the past 50 years of Nicaraguan tobacco and cigar history with Juan Martinez, President of Joya de Nicaragua.
I found it really interesting and think you might as well, learning about the history of how the cigar industry was born in Nicaragua.
