  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I need to get my hands on some of this. I'm hoping this spreads out a bit. My bet is there are a bunch of folks out there who can make some really great small batch (in the VERY literal sense) whiskey out there that will be very interesting.

Piedmont Distillers in NC already sells moonshine up there. You might see if you can get your hands on it. I've had some of the Midnight Moon Apple Pie moonshine, it's pretty tasty.

Here in Washington state it's legal to distill spirits for your own consumption. I've been toying with the idea of setting up a still myself, haven't found the time yet. There is a local company making "new "whiskey, it's called White Dog Whiskey, all organic and pretty tasty.

In Ireland we call it "Craythur" It's widely made allthough Illegal. I have friends back home in Derry who's families have been doing it for centuries.
I assure you the proof is far greater the 100.
Shoot me your addy, I call home at least once a week, I can have it shipped to you. Be careful you can do serious harm to yourself with over indulgence.

I had something they called legal moonshine recently. Tasted like Brandy.

I had something made by my girlfriends uncle in Union county NC 30 years ago.

Tasted like high quality jet fuel, took my breath away and got me looped in short order.
Now THAT was moonshine.

According to my kin in Virgina hills, "if it aint over 180proof, it aint shine"

Let me tell you, the real stuff will tear you up and have you coming back for more.

Depending on what they're using to produce their "weak beer" or whatever they call it they are making white whiskey basically. If they're just fermenting sugar with bread yeast then yes I would agree it qualifies as shine. I think calling it legal moonshine is just a marketing ploy.
