Setting: Little Bear Flag gathering in my backyard with Jered, Scott, Taylor, Brent, and some others as well over the course of the night.
Drink: Whiskey and ginger ale (makers mark and some other crafty type.)
History on the cigar: Jered and I purchased these from cigarsintl.com for about $25 or so for a 10 pack. We received them on 8/28 so they were fresh off the truck so to speak. Luckily with two day shipping they were very fresh.
Initial thoughts: Nice Connecticut shade wrapper, very little veining and seemed to be wrapped well. Very nice earthy aroma and respectable but not overly pretentious banding.
The Light: I lit it like I have been lately, slowly warming the foot, and then proceeding to torch while puffing lightly.
The Smoke: Very mild cigar with good flavor to it, it had a bit of a sweet aroma and flavor to it and the smoke was very light bodied on the palate. I found the smoke to draw perfectly up until about the last 1/4th of the cigar where it became slightly more difficult and the smoke got to be a bit more harsh. I will have to smoke one again in a few weeks to see if this is a singular problem or if it's an issue with the cigar. The smoke on the cigar just seemed to willow out and almost twist and turn more so than most of the cigars I've smoked. Very nice clean and aromatic smoke. Definitely a joy to smoke and taste, especially for the price!
Overall Impressions: Where can you go wrong with a smoke at that price point? At $2.50 a cigar you can't buy much other than Phillies and black and mild's and you're not getting a 10th of what you get here. If their was ever to be an everyday smoke this one would be right up my alley. I woke up this morning with a slight cigar taste in my mouth even after brushing and I find it to be quite enjoyable whereas a lot of cigars leave me with a overall bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively.) Should these go on special again I wouldn't hesitate to purchase more.
