  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

let's split something soon

two splits have recently been posted and we got an anemic response. I suspect it was because almost everyone here favors handmade and "proven" cigars (punch punch, psd4s, montecristo no. 2s, CoRos, etc.). oh and we were recovering from the holidays and shit.

so lets kick some ideas and price points around and perhaps we can do a mini-split or get back to doing the normal ones again.

if we could find in tact Monte Esp. # 2's from 1998, I'd buy a shitload.

also, Cohiba CE's would be a nice alternative (price-wise) to the Lancero, but shit I'd like to have some Lanceros.

I wonder how many buyers there will be?

My first idea was to do a box of esp. no. 2's and one 10-box of Monte D's, but that would only give 5 people 2 D's and a fiver of Monte Esp. 2's.

Maybe we double the Monte D's to 20 and go for 2 boxes of Esp. #2's.

Monte Esp. #2's at CoH (he has issues, but just starting here) are $210/box
Monte D's are $130/box.

so:

the total would be $680. We could still do 7-stick shares, where each person gets 2 D's and 5 Esp. No. 2's. There would be 10 shares available at this level so the cost/share would be $68/7-stick share.

OR, we could just do fivers of the Monte Esp. No 2's for $42 each and sell the D's in an "a la carte" fashion, for $13/ea. We would obviously limit the # of D's that each buyer could buy, just so that Jorge doesn't go ahead and buy all 20 of them. Also, you would only be allowed to buy a D (or D's) if you were purchasing at least one fiver of the Monte Esp. #2's.

Just my $.02, but I tried to accomodate possible issues, but still keep it really simple to deal with.

let's take a little feedback on this thread and after tonight whatever seems to be O.K. will be "the plan".

*footnote: Rolf has these also, but the D's are $5 more/box, and the Esp. 2's are $17 more/box. To go through him would be an additional $45 total. Of course, using Rolf, if I ordered, would give me those frequent buyer points thing. Someone else may be ordering this, since I don't know if I can trust myself to do the big ass charge on the card, and actually use the $ from other buyers to pay that bill. It never seems to actually work that way for me.

the same thing, but buying the vintage would be ABOUT $940, since the boxes of aged Monte Esp. No. 2's is 331 each.

Are the 98s gonna be that much better than a 03 or 04. I mean, the 98s were special but THAT special?

I am NOT down for anything as big as a Monte A. I might be talked into that pigtail combo.

But I still support a single marque buy.

Let's go get 2 cabs of Punch SS1s ($678) or 3 boxes of Siglo IIIs ($768) or Monte Esp #2s ($630) or Upmann No. 2s ($624) or 4 boxes of RyJ Cazadores ($616).

I would defer to your wisdom on that Dr. Evil. I thought they were the #2's which I've personally loved. never had the #1's.
