"TommyBoy"
First of all a big thank you to Larry for sending me these wonderfull sticks.:applause:
I've been waiting for the right time for me to review these as I like to not be bothered so I can give my full attention to the cigar. I finelly got a day to myself and figured this was the perfect time to compare these little guys.
Both of these sticks:
Length: 5 inches
Ring Size: starts at 40 and tapers to 32
LFD Chroot

OK I am usually not one for small cigars but being LFD I new I wanted them. On the light after just clipping a little off the head I was hit with a generous amount of smoke which had a nice white pepper kick which followed with a sweet undertone. Know I am not that great at flavor profile as some of you gents but this little guy was smooth after the light and even after the light it stayed consistant and offered an easy draw with plenty of smoke. the first third of this cigar was pretty much the same with the white pepper but settled into a dark coffee taste I believe.
The second third of this was just beautiful as the white pepper subsided and all I could taste was a dark coffee and a gentle amount of earthyness.
The final Third was pretty much the same and never got hot as I thought it might with the tapered end. It stayed lit the entire smoke, even burn, and lots of smoke.
Total burn time was 1hr 5min...Nice surprise for me!
DPG My Father El Picador

As with the LFD the light after clipping offered a large amount of smoke however instead of white pepper your hit with black pepper and alot of it. This cigar is a powder keg and lets you know upfront. Typical of DPG it's flavors are strong and even for a little cigar you want to sit down for it. I would say it's in the full catagory for me.
After the first third the strength stays the same and the pepper gives way to a rich leather and earth. It is very strong and the flavor intensifies as it burns.
As with the LFD it pretty much burns this way to the nub and again did not get so hot that you couldn't hold it.
Total burn time was 50min...still more than I thought.
My final thoughts on these two...well it's tough. For me it was the LFD that won the battle but both are damn good. I would have taken more pics but they both looked the same while smoking so it wouldn't have mattered.
Again thank you Larry for these wonderfull smokes. I will be buying more for sure!!
