La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel Maduro
This beauty is black as coal and smooth as silk. The construction on this cigar is remarkable: it's dense, yet has a little give when squeezed, there are some veins but they didn't cause any problems while burning, and the head of the cigar is marvelous. How they roll this particular cigar I'll never know!
And the oils... The LFD DL Chisel Maduro is absolutely covered in oil. This picture doesn't do the cigar justice:
After a quick cut and light -- the cigar smacks the palate with pepper, spice, and everything nice. The LFD DL Chisel hits the ground running in the flavor department. From the first few puffs it's quite obvious that this ligero-laden cigar is a delicious powerhouse.
It continues to build in strength and the flavors are pretty consistent between the first and second thirds: pepper, spice, and sweet tobacco cover your palate and the smoke leaves a little zing on the tongue.
The ash holds on like a champ, even on this windy day. The cigar did need a couple of touchups, but it wasn't anything major.
Getting towards the nub the DL Chisel Maduro really picks up in strength. The flavors are still that of pepper and spice with sweet tobacco -- not a big difference from the first and second thirds.
Overall, this is one of the best cigars on the planet, in my opinion (I burn these regularly). While the flavors don't change much from each third, they're still a great mix of sweet tobacco, spice, and pepper. It has a good burn and the ash will stay on for about an inch and a half.
If you're a fan of potent and powerful ligero-laden smokes, then pick one of these up and I promise you won't regret it. In fact, you'll thank me later.
