I'm an idiot.., I felt the need to start off with that for multiple reasons. First my writing skills really suck and second I decided it would be a good idea to start the day with a fairly heavy cigar. But hey I did and decided to jot down kind of an informal review of the LFD Maduro Chiselito.
The Basics
La Flor Dominicano Chiselito Madure
5x44
Ecuadorian Habano Maduro Wrapper
$7 at a local B&M
Prelit
I love the chisel shape, the chisel on these cigars isn't as pretty as the larger sizes, it has some wrinkles in it, and like I usually do I punched both sides of the chisel which was a little more difficult because of the size. the wrapper is other than the chisel end looks great not veins or defects that I could see and it had a great chocolaty color. Overall a good looking cigar.
First 3rd
Lit really easily and the draw was great, little spicy right away similar to a Don Pepin, but also had a nice cinnamon note to it. Nice even burn all the way through the first 3rd
Second 3rd
Still drawing great lots of smoke from this little guy and starting to build in strength a little bit, also the flavors seem to be maturing away from the spicy into molasses and chocolate.
Final 3rd
This is where I had a couple issues with the cigar, the chisel started to unravel at the end a bit, but luckily it did not affect the smoking too much just a little annoying. And the chocolate molasses flavors continued through the end, but it did pick up a bit of spice again, and the strength continued to build.
For What it's Worth
I really enjoyed smoking this cigar, it was the first time I had the chisel this size and really enjoyed it, it took about an hour to smoke and will definitely works its way into my after dinner quick smoke rotation.
