Paired with Bruichladdich Octomore Comus, finished in Sauternes casks. I figured pairing my most HTF scotch with my most HTF cigar might work. Please excuse spelling errors as the further into the review I get the drunker I am. This scotch is 120pf and I started off drinking Apple Pie shine earlier this afternoon. I also ran the scotch 5x through a vinturi to remove the burn so Im just slammin it!
Right out of the wrapper this thing has hints of cream and caramel, with a sweet earthiness becoming dominant.
Cold draw always forget to do that in a review same today!
I know next to nothing about this stick other than its supposed to be one of about 100, a thinner, harsher version of the LP9 Flying Pig. The guy that gave it to me said not to ask.
Aside from a ¼ crack at the foot, the construction of this cigar is flawless. Almost like it was put together with a microscope. The LP9 Pigs and FFPs are much less refined in their construction.
First draw is cedar and wet earth followed by a twangy sweetness Im trying to wrap my head around. It doesnt start off as harsh as a 2011 FFP (which is much tamer now than in 11), but the black pepper in the retrohale hints at something much stronger to come.
An aroma of peat and hickory develops. As the smoke production picks up, acrid black pepper smoke floods my sinuses. Sounds painful but its actually pretty awesome.
Milk chocolate, peat and PEPPER
Its a feral dirty rat!!! WIN!
½ in tunneling really bad maybe because its a dry stick Im smoking outside in the garage after it rained. Getting kinda hot as I try to keep it going. Cocoa notes emerge reminiscent of both the FFP and Dirty Rat. An aroma of dark chocolate fills my garage. Awesome! Smoke production is minimal.
Some kind of aromatic note is coming out very chocolaty but unique to this stick. So far the pairing with the Octomore Comus is spot-on!
Im not getting the harsness anymore. Its mellowed out and is VERY similar to a DE BOTL 13 corona, just with burn issues.
Hey! At ½, the draw has opened up beautifully and the burn has improved. Mayve because I became more interested in the scotch and stopped worrying about the stick? Still kicks out less smoke than an asmatic breathing through a straw. Falvors are the same GLORIOUS.
You know what cigar I want afer ths? A Padron 1926 80yrs maddy. Close overall RG and flavors, just not nearly as intense.
In hindsight, probably shoulda straight-cut this thing instead of v-cut, but alls good now.
Gave up with 1/5 left the nic hit made me go take a 9lb shit. Thanks for reading & stay classy!
