I'm going on a cruise, and will have to fly to the port. What do you all do concerning butane lighters?
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
Thats a good idea.. never thought about sending my stuff to me hmmm thanks for that idea Mr. Sal!Whenever I travel I end up grabbing a couple of Bic's when I land, or if I'm lucky my destination has a Walmart with a Jetlite still on the rack. If I'm staying for an extended period on business I'll send a MFR box ahead to my hotel with Stuff that can't fly. Couple of lighters, full size shaving cream and hair goop, etc...
Yeah, I won't do it for short trips, but sometimes I'm out on business for weeks at a time and those little bottles/tubes get frieken annoyingThats a good idea.. never thought about sending my stuff to me hmmm thanks for that idea Mr. Sal!Whenever I travel I end up grabbing a couple of Bic's when I land, or if I'm lucky my destination has a Walmart with a Jetlite still on the rack. Technically, 1 butane lighter per person is allowed in carry-on. Lighters are only allowed in checked Baggage if they are new and I fueled or enclosed in special DOT approved cases.I flew twice this year with a lighter in my checked bag and they didn't take it. I wouldn't take a dupont with me but a cheap one you won't mind losing.
Lubbuk to Houston to Washington/Dulles carrying on person a disposable as recent as Friday into yesterday AM ... no issues.I flew twice this year with a lighter in my checked bag and they didn't take it. I wouldn't take a dupont with me but a cheap one you won't mind losing.
I've done it in a pinch, but with Bic style lighters cheap and common enough pretty much anywhere in the world I prefer the convenience. For those that have this issue which I know is mainly personal preference ...why not just use wooden matches those few days? I prefer my zippo which some show Disdain for without the insert but it doesn't affect the taste for me but when I travel I just go with matches
Like I said I prefer my lighters too but Save smoking on a boat or beach or in a windstorm are matches that inconvenient I honestly don't get it.I've done it in a pinch, but with Bic style lighters cheap and common enough pretty much anywhere in the world I prefer the convenience. For those that have this issue which I know is mainly personal preference ...why not just use wooden matches those few days? Personal preference I guess. Unless they're long matches I always find myself going through several to toast the foot and get a good even light, and of course the inevitable burnt fingertips when I try to stretch it too long. To me that's inconvenient enough to warrant a disposable lighter purchase, to others maybe not.Like I said I prefer my lighters too but Save smoking on a boat or beach or in a windstorm are matches that inconvenient I honestly don't get it.I've done it in a pinch, but with Bic style lighters cheap and common enough pretty much anywhere in the world I prefer the convenience. For those that have this issue which I know is mainly personal preference ...why not just use wooden matches those few days?
