  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Received this cigar several weeks ago from Aquarich. It looked so good and had such a unique shape that I decided to give it a try.

Prelight: Wrapper is a dark colorado (chocolate brown / red) color with small + medium veins and a nice oily sheen. Overall it feels very firm and has a very rich tobacco aroma. I've seen some reviews where people punch both sides of the chisel, but I decided to clip 1/4" from the end for better airflow. Even then the initial draw was fairly firm.

First 1/3: You can tell right from the start that this cigar is full bodied + strong. The flavors start off with a blast of white pepper. After a short while it settles into a nice mixture of rich, woody tobacco with a spicy edge. Surprisingly though, the finish is very short. Draw is tight as the firm resistance is limiting the smoke output. Burn started even, but one side of the wrapper is consistently slower and needed a touch up. The ash is firm with a mottled gray color.

Second 1/3: I decided to clip another 1/8" or so off the end for a better draw. This helped initially, but the chisel design and perhaps the construction of this particular cigar had the firm draw returning after about 10 minutes. The flavors remained much the same with the spiciness reminding me more of jalapenos - with the heat hitting the back of your throat. Seems a bit sweeter through the middle portion too. The slower burn on one side continued and required two more touch ups. Just past the midway point the smoke output really dropped off and the cigar totally went out. I let it rest for a few minutes and then relit.

Final portion: I again clipped the end for better airflow, but as before this was only a short term fix. From here to the band point I had difficulty keeping the cigar lit unless I took a draw at least every 30 seconds or so. As this was making the cigar overheat, I decided to just end the smoke.

Overall this was just an OK cigar. The construction was lacking, perhaps caused in part by the odd shape of the chisel end. I did enjoy the flavors, but the extremely short aftertaste left me wanting.

sounds like you wound up with a bum stick. The few i have had tasted and burned perfectly.
Me too. All of my LG Chisels burnt and drew perfectly.

You can't always get great sticks out of the bag. I've had a few PSD4s that were tight and didn't even draw -- where as the others were fantastic. It happens.

The LFD chisel is the bomb!! I don't think I've had a truelly bad Litto smoke so I'm guessing you just had a bad stick which sucks but does happen in all cigar brands.
Thanks for the review!!

Thanks for the review! I too have had problems with the way the lg chisel heats up and burns poorly towards the final third and i have smoked many boxes. For a long time this was my favorite smoke despite it though. great flavors.

Thanks for the review. The chisel shape is what sets this one apart from the other LGs. Sorry you had the construction issues. If I stumble across some more I'll make sure you get another try at one.
