  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Litto Gomez Diez Cubano Oscuro
Wow! That is the only way I can begin this review. Before I clipped the Cubano, I noticed the solid construction and deep rich wrapper. I clipped the stick and took a dry pull; the red cayenne spice was very noticeable! I fired up, and here we go...

1/3: this cigar is very full bodied, and the smoker will catch that from the intial pull. The burn is consistent of almost all Litto products, very uneven. The smoke is very rich, with notes that remind me of cayenne pepper. I did have a few lite issues, which, again, with litto, not surprised. The tobacco is very rich!

2/3: this second third calmed down a bit and released a flavor that reminded me of buttered popcorn, could have been the sandwich I just finished. The cayenne pepper is still represented! The burn is not something to write home about, however the re-lite issue is not as bad as the first third.

3/3: the final third was solid! The LGD oscuro reminded me of a cinnamon stick, a very potent cinnamon stick. The burn was much of the same, and the re-lite issue became much more prevalent. This cigar is absolutely amazing! For the fact of numbers, a 9.4

Litto has hit a home run, no a grand slam with this cigar. I have noticed since September has started I have noticed a dramatic drop in my opus smoking (2). This cigar fit the bill, especially for my lack of my favorite cigar. The burn and re-lite issue normally bother the hell out of me, but while smoking this cigar, I did not notice the issues to where it would hinder my view of the flavor. I hope you all enjoy...

Thanks for the review.

I also enjoy Litto Gomez cigars.
I know by saying this I am going to piss off a lot of tat lovers, however, in my honest opinion, Litto has really stepped up his game with this and many of his new realeases this year. I do love a good tat, but this stick blows any out of the water, for my palate.

I've had two regular LG Diez Cubanos this week and both would stay lit and had a tendency to canoe a little bit, but despite the burn issues, they were really good sticks.

I've been trying to get my hands on a few LG Diez oscuros. Considering that Litto only puts out one box of oscuros for every 200 boxes of the regular LGD's, they are hard to come by. I saw an empty box of 09 chisel oscuros at my B&M, but he likes to just refill the boxes he has on the shelf rather than put out a new box. I'm willing to bet that the chisels in that refilled box are oscuro's, but I can't really see a difference in the wrappers between the oscuros and the regular. The pics I've seen of the oscuros on the web don't help in differentiating the two either.

El Jefe, your best bet is to find another local b&m that carrys the original chisle and compare the two. I have noticed a distinct difference in the two. The ones I have in my humidor are very rich and a deep orange, his regular line of LG, are more pale. I will try and post a pic before I fire one up that I have with me tonight. Not that you will be able to completely compare, but at least you will have an idea.

I've gotten several from different B&M's and still couldn't tell the difference. I guess the only choice I have is to burn 'em all and see if they taste different. I really wish he used a second band so I could tell the difference. Heck...the only difference between the boxes is the word "oscuro" in small gold print on the front.

El Jefe, the oscuro can be easily missed if your not looking for it, which makes it even better. Personally I am glad he is not using a secondary band, adds a bit of mystique.
