  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ok, so I know this has most likely been done before, but I couldn't let this one slide.
Size- Toro
Smoke time- 2 hours
Drink pairing- Pepsi and Bombay Saphire (like usual)
Draw- Slightly tight but produced great amounts of smoke
Pre-light- slight notes of white pepper and carmel
First third- White pepper and sweet tobacco. I have never had that dichotemy before, absolutely fantastic!
Second third- Same as first third, but a couple puffs in the middle were like almonds. It almost tasted like I was chewing almonds directly, the flavor was so prevelent.
Last third- The sweet tobacco dominated until the last inch where the flavor completely changed to a light black pepper/meaty heartiness. It was like a peppered beef jerky taste until I could hold it no longer.
In summary- One of the best and smoothest NC's I have had. I would buy multiple boxes if it were feasable.

Quite literally one of the best I've ever had...Just great from start to finish, and the stalk cut methods used on all T52's is something worth looking up....Pretty amazing.

I can't remember if it was you clint that did that review a little while back saying very impressive things about these sticks, but yeah I would rate it about a 94 just due to the smoothness of that unique flavor. I have had so many NC's lately...especially stuff out of the My Father factory that overwhelms my palete with that black pepper taste. I dont mind that, as long as it is not the dominating flavor...it just makes the cigar seem young and not refined. I actually could not wait to try this one out due to the one review stating that it was their favorite smoke this year.
Now I know it is sacrilage to compare to CC's,but it reminded me of a PSD4 but with a bit more flavor to it. The PSD4 does have other flavors hidden in it, but overall it compares in my book.
Just my two cents :)

I usually would give the Toro a 92-93 too, on a good day, 90 at lowest probably. Absolutely love the toro size specifically. Never had a bad T-52, but the Toro and Pig just really nail it on the head. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

This is my second favorite smoke after the Cojonu 03. Problem is I can't get them locally so it's buy on line.
Thanks for the quick review!

I'll throw in another recommendation for the Flying Pig, you should still be able to find them around here and there ... worth the search.

Also, if you liked the Toro now, next time you get a few, put some of them down for a while. With some rest these cigars get even better, imvho. The flavors come out more richly, with more of those wonderful sweet spices. It looses a bit of power, but it's a great trade-off in my book.

I have always drank Pepsi and Saphire. It was something I tried one night and can't get away from...for probably the last 9 years or so. It is a nice bitter drink that I find enhances a lot of flavors in the smokes, especially a dried fruity character and some coco sometimes.
When you order it in a restaurant you always get the obligotory "what ? Pepsi and gin ??", but it is the only thing I drink now as I cannot do straight alcohol. I have tried scotch, bourbon, rum, and whiskey straight or on the rocks or with a splash of water, but nothing helps...all I get is the alcohol attacking my taste buds and leaving nothing for the smoke. And I have tried expensive alcohols as well, so I just resigned myself to a coke/pepsi type drink a long time ago.

Yes, I wrote a review a few months back on the robusto.

This would be an intolerable cigar if it wasn't for the sweetness of that gorgeous wrapper...These cigars are very well balanced.

And it's certainly not sacrilege to compare non cc's to cc's, especially with the mediocre quality coming out of Cuba these days. I have bought far more Nics than cc's over the past few years.

Great review!
