Looks like I'll get to see the fight I wanted..

Well our last MMA thread kinda started drifting towards Kimbo v. Ken Shamrock and injuries permitting we'll get to see it on October 4, 2008 courtesy of EliteXC. Here's the provisional card:

Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Yoko Takahashi
Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobald
Benji Radach vs. Murilo Rua
Kimbo vs Ken Shamrock
Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley

I'm not a big fan of women fighting or women in MMA but hey to each his own I'm sure it turns some one on.

I'm looking forward to this. I'm not exactly a Kimbo fan, but he's interesting at the very least. I feel about the same for Shamrock.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you dig the female fights?

I'd like to see Kimbo vs Shamrock...although I think Kimbo is over-hyped and Shamrock is past his prime...if I had to bet, I'd pick Kimbo...

If Kimbo connects that big right rand, he is going to knock Shamrocks head off. I don't think he'll do much in MMA beyond this, as he has ZERO skill outside of punching.

Yep, if it comes to a skill match Shamrock will win, but if it comes to al ittle bit of a boxing match Kimbo should KO him.

The way I see it if they keep it on their feet Kimbo has a definite advantage.. Ken's chin has always been questionable but after the last fight so is Kimbo's punching. If it goes to the ground Ken will get him to tap easy.

Nothing against women fighting.. I just hate to see those pretty faces get messed up.

I just hope Ken's reflexes pick up a bit, he hasn't been looking too crisp lately, he probably should have hung it up already. I hope this is his last fight, I'd love to see him go out with a "big" win. But if Kimbo gets the stoppage, well, that just means even more asses in seats next time around. It's a win/win.

I know how you feel about the ladies. I love watching Carano fight, she's skilled and exciting, but it would just be terrible to see her lose any of her incredible beauty. It was hard watching Kim Couture get messed up, but she's still looking good. Santos, on the other hand :lookaroun ...reminds me of a female Wanderlei. I hope her opponent isn't too pretty :frown:

Ken doesn't seem interested in MMA any more he's got too much stuff happening around him with tv deals, opening new gyms, etc... though I did see an interview with him saying he wanted to fight one or two more fights before calling it a day so lets hope he actually trains for this one. I'm sure Ken can give us a good fight he just needs to focus.

Cyborg is one scary woman.. I wonder what her husband's reaction is every morning. I would've like to see Santos v Carano but I guess EliteXC with all its financial woes would like to hype this fight as much as it can though it would be a bad idea if either one of them lost to their respective opponents who for a change have more experience and better skills than their previous opponents.
