  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Lou Rodriguez is, like me, a physician in the Emergency Department. He's also a lover of the leaf - and has created his own line of cigars. Upon hearing about this line of cigars on a recent Stogie Fresh podcast, I contacted Dr. Rodriguez. After several Twitter and phone conversations, he graciously sent a prescription over to The Doctors Lounge (my screened in sunporch).

Cigar Information:
Cigar: Lou Rodriguez Edicion Premier
Vitola/Size: Bom Bom (4.75 x 42)
Wrapper: Mexican San Adreas Negro (Maduro)
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Price: gift from Lou Rodriguez

Pre-Light:
Appearance: dark maduro, thick, toothy wrapper; black and gold band with caduceus LOVE IT
Wrapper Color: dark maduro
Feel: soft throughout
Scent of wrapper/foot: barnyard with hint of pleasant shellfish
Flavor on Draw: coffee and tobacco

Other:
Weather: sitting in The Doctors Lounge; 60 degrees with 39% humidity
Libation: Great Divide Brewing Company Samurai Rice Ale
Cut and Light: Xikar V-cut; Blazer Z-plus insert for Zippo

Smoking Experience:
Taste - initial 3rd: coffee; earthy; nutty; retrohale is strong with pepper spice
Taste - middle 3rd: charcoaled meat; earthy; nutty
Taste - final 3rd: espresso coffee; earthy
Strength: full
Smoke: thick, full, dark white smoke
Draw: easy, but not over easy
Finish: dry; charcoaled meat
Construction: soft construction; concerned that it would run too hot, but was just right!

Final Thoughts:
Like It: Yes
Buy It Again: Yes
Recommend It: Yes

This cigar rocked right from the start. The flavor and strength is full; however, it is not a nicotine bomb. This is a great cigar to end the day with a favorite libation. Beer, bourbon, scotch, or wine should all stand up to this wonderful cigar. These cigars can be found at participating retailers as listed at the cigar website: www.lercigars.com. Try them - you'll be glad you did.

Have you tried any of the others? I have some of the Toro that I picked up and was curious if they had any subtle differences. I'm nowhere near writing reviews but may have to pick up a Bom Bom and follow your review to see if I'm tasting the same things.

Ha, you dug this thread out of the deep web brother! I didn't even notice at first.
