  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Had the pleasure of hanging out with some upstanding BOTL yesterday at Outlaw Cigar Co. up in Kansas City. Smoked some fine cigars and drank some tasty beverages (including the BOTL beer, great job fellas ). One of the cigars I smoked was this one. Appearance wise, this is a sexy cigar. Dark chocolate colored wrapper with a small amount of tooth to it. Seams are tight, firm feel to it. Wonderful cedar and tobacco aroma coming off of it. Clipped the bun off the cap with my Palio and the cut was smooth, leaving behind a nice draw with just a little resistance. My only qualm is that the cap split. Torched it up and it started spewing smoke like a chimney. First few draws revealed a T52 like spice underneath a black pepper note and cedar. When I first retro haled I was almost overcome as I didn't expect it to be quite as strong/peppery as it was. The split cap was annoying so I finally got fed up with trying to get it to stick down and just took it off. Smoked okay without it. The burn started off a little sideways, but evened out before too long and stayed that way. Ash was a bright white and was visually striking next to the dark wrapper. As the cigar progressed the pepper died out and the spice died down leaving a predominantly cedar/woody and chocolate profile. Everything rocked and rolled right on up til the last 1/3 when things started to get a little harsh. Tried purging and it helped for a bit, but I ended up putting it down just before the band.

Overall this is a great cigar. It has the potential to be amazing with some rest and probably will be an epic smoke in a few years. I'm encouraged that these, unlike the No 9 and T52, will be a regular, albeit limited, release. The only thing I didn't like about this cigar was the split cap, but that's just a fluke thing and in no way indicative of the line as a whole. And the band, like every other LP product, refuses to come off cleanly. This isn't an issue for those that don't like saving their bands and certainly doesn't attract from the enjoyment of the smoke. Price is bound to be a little steep for some, but you definitely get your bang for your buck.

Thanks for the review. IMO these are top notch right now and I don't think rest will make them any better. I do prefer my lp9 fresh though and I know others who like them aged.

I also had the pleasure of smoking one of these on Saturday, in Dan's company, and I agree with the Bug's review. It was a delicious smoke. As with Dan's experience, and Bob concurred, when it hits right around the band, it's done; it went from yummy to harsh in one puff. And that's alright! I really liked this cigar!

Is it a smoke bomb like the Flying Pigs?
more than the reg pig!

I got a chance to smoke one of these last week, and it was pretty nice. I'm not a big RG guy, but the cigar was so good that I would make an exception once or twice a year.
I really liked the flavors, and this thing puts out a ton of smoke, even when it's just sitting on the ashtray it smokes like it was dipped in gasoline.
