  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Met up with my buddy and his step dad for golf yesterday and he brought a Macanudo Vintage Maduro for me. I’m not much of a Macanudo fan as they are just too mild for my tastes, but he really wanted me to try it out, so I figured I’d do a quick review on it as well.

Macanudo Vintage Maduro 1997 Toro

Size: 6 x 54
Country of Origin: Dominican Republic
Wrapper Color: Maduro
Wrapper Origin: Connecticut
Wrapper Leaf Type: Broadleaf
Price: $7 - $10

Appearance and Construction – A nicely constructed cigar with a dark maduro wrapper. The metal ring instead of the normal cigar band was a nice touch.

Pre-light – Cigar smelled slightly sweet. Draw was solid.

1/3 – A slight bit of cocoa and leather. Nice amount of smoke, good draw, and ash held for about an inch before falling.

2/3 – Was hoping it might pick up in strength at least a little here, but to no avail. A little bit of cedar mixed nicely with the cocoa and leather.

3/3 – Much of the same.

Final thoughts – This was a very well constructed cigar with a nice presentation. The flavors were good, but just too mild for my tastes. This would be a good cigar for anyone looking for something on the mild side. I’m usually a fan of medium or medium to full cigars, but this wasn’t even close to a medium cigar IMO.
