  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

When I was first told about these cigars I viewed the metal band (ring) as a gimmick. Normally I try to stay away from gimmick cigars. I usually viewed the gimmick as the maker trying to cover up something that the cigar is lacking, like taste or quality. These were a surprising very good cigar. When I think about macanudo, normally I think about a mild smoke. It was a medium bodied smoke. It tasted good. No after taste. Great construction. The ash held on like glue. One interesting note, as the cigar was smoked and it warmed up, the band loosened up and was able to be slipped off. I guess the ring gage size shrinks slightly as the cigar warms up. I liked this smoke enough to go out and buy two boxes of them. I will most likely keep these in my normal rotation as long as they last. Thank you for reading this. I appreciate your input.

It's all about smoking what YOU like, glad you enjoyed them. The new Macanudo Vintage 2006 has the same "bling ring" and is a milder cigar.

Im not much into macanudos these days... but they are the cigar that started the process of dragging me down the slippery slope years ago.. Ill always appreciate them for that :)

I dont know that Ive ever had a medium bodied or strength mac.. every one of them I ever tried was somewhere between mild and ridiculously mild... which is probably what drew me to them back in the day...

I might have to go try the vintage maduro just to say Ive had one that is medium bodied :)

An issue like strength or taste is subjective. What is med for me may be strong for a new-be, or maybe very mild to someone else. It is also subjective for each person on different days. Today if i am feeling strong a Power ranger or may be a MX2 may hit the spot. On the other hand if tomorrow I'm not quite up to par a CAO Gold or a Mac may seem strong. I know that for a lot of guys out there this stick may to them be mild. In the end I liked this one. It wasn't harsh at all and it wasn't peppery. That is one constant thing to me. I hate peppery.
