Cigar: Man O' War: Puro Authentico Corona (5 x 42) by: Abdel "AJ" Fernandez
Cost: $7 / stick or $60/box of 10
Drink: Dos Equis (green)
Appearance: This cigar has a habano wrapper (reddish/brown in color) with a shaggy foot. Like most of AJ's work this is a heavy solid cigar especially for its size. I am giving the appearance a 9.6/10 even though I am not much of a Corona guy.
Pre-Light: Nice smooth draw and I get tea flavor with a bit of peppery/spice on the pre-light draw.
Cut: I double blade cut this cigar. Just clipping off the pig tail.
First 1/3 of the cigar: This cigar took no time to light up the small corona size with the shaggy foot lit right up with no effort. The first couple draws lets you know that this is a full bodied cigar. The initial flavors noted were pepper on the tip of the tongue, a nice spice in the back of the throat and a slight tea flavor wrapping it all up. These flavors were not overwhelming, just a nice solid hint that they were there.
2/3 of the cigar: The pepper faded in and out as the smoke went on. There was an abundant amount of smoke which was a plus. A woodsy flavor started to set in. It was not an oak or cedar flavor, but a sweetish smokey flavor which was very nice. It was hard to describe but my best way would be like an applewood (BBQ). The pepper and spice was never overwhelming, it just seemed to remind you that it was there.
Final 1/3 of the cigar: The hint of spice remained in the back of your throat but the pepper started to fall off. A nice leathery note set in along with the tea flavor making this experience very enjoyable. The burn was excellent. Getting closer to the end every draw would give you the slight numbing sensation to the lips but they kept on crying for more. I didn't want to stop this smoke
Strength: This is definitely a Full-Bodied smoke. This is a powerhouse especially for its size. This little smoke was, in my opinion, Man O War's version of the Dirty Rat. I would recommend having something in your stomach before you smoke it.
Smoke time: Smoke time was right around an hour but I smoked it as far as I could because my lips didn't want me to stop making it about 1:20. Which was good it was one of those smokes you just didn't want to end. There was a clean burn throughout the cigar, I never once had to touch it up. I never once had to relight the cigar. The only flaw I had was the wrapper is a bit thin, causing some tearing and flaking but not a set back at all.
Summary: I had these gifted by a certain someone that surprised the hell out of me. I was told that these are AJ Fernandez's daily smoke and they have only been released to one company for retail sale. I have have always been a big fan of the Man O War series (except the Virtue). With my enjoyment of the series I was so stoked to light one of these babies I forgot to bring extras. Sorry I didn't share Warren and Mike, even though WB starred me down the whole time. I think the thing that makes these little babies so damn good is the size. These sell for approximately $7 a stick or $60 for a box of 10. Overall I give this smoke a 9.6/10. This is by far the best Man O War out there and my new favorite in the Man O War line.:thumbsup:
This is a MUST try!
Excellent build, Very nice flavors, Lots of smoke, Could me my new go-to stick.
